Are you focusing on the wrong IPAs?

Guest Post:  Melissa Dery

Are you making the level of income you desire in your Direct Sales business?  If the answer is “no” then perhaps you need to take another look at your IPA’s….

Income Producing Activities:

  • Booking parties/events
  • Sponsoring
  • Product sales

Income “Put-off” Activities:

  • Making lists
  • Organizing your office
  • Labeling product, catalogs, etc
  • Sending invitations
  • Creating flyers
  • Designing a newsletter
  • Updating database
  • Sending cards
  • Updating facebook status

You know the three powerful ways to produce income in your business, now take a look at this second list of IPAs.  These activities are all important and while they do not “prevent” income they can delay it.  There is no denying the importance of them, however what I do want you to consider is how much time are you spending on these types of activities in your business?   And the even bigger question is…

What is your time worth to you?

Let’s say that you spend an hour a week on these income-delaying activities, how much income could you produce in an hour?  What if you spent that hour on the phone calling customers or took a prospect out for coffee how much could you earn?

Let’s say you spend 2-4 hours each week on income-delaying activities, could you easily fill that time with an extra booking?  How much income could you earn in that time?

The beauty of direct sales is that you can control your income, right?  If you want to give yourself a “raise” you can book an extra party, or sponsor another team member…but what helps you make that happen…more time?

So take a look at how you spend your valuable time, with a few adjustments in what you personally need to manage and what can be delegated, you can quickly gain the time you need to focus on Income Producing Activities and focus less on what does not.
